Thank you for your support with your membership, coming to one of our events, sponsoring the Pickle Festival, or volunteering. We are a not for profit, and we are indebted to you because without you we wouldn’t exist, sharing in the history of Greenlawn and Centerport.
Today, I must appeal to you one more time. We need you to include the Association in your year- end giving plans. We are educating the public about the history of Greenlawn and Centerport, and the surrounding areas.
What a year it has been! The Greenlawn Centerport Historical Association (GCHA) is holding programs to fulfill our mission statement to conduct educational programs to promote interest in the historical traditions of the community. We continue to maintain the Suydam House, the John Gardiner Farmhouse, and the Lollipop Train.
- E-Newsletter: Sharing our news, events, and a historical article monthly!
- Walking Tour and Pub Crawl of Downtown Greenlawn: Robert C. Hughes, the Town Historian, and Toby Kissam, a Greenlawn historian, led a walking tour and pub crawl of Greenlawn. You can learn all the histories of Greenlawn; you will see how the train affected Greenlawn, learn the oldest business, find out about the origins of the School District, and many more stories to unfurl! Participants stopped at local establishments (with a great history or in a historic building) to enjoy some refreshments before continuing the tour.
- Dine and Discover: The Dine and Discover series combines good food with Greenlawn, Centerport, and Long Island’s rich history. In our series, we will feature a different speaker covering a topic relating to our local history and include a three-course meal at Mill Pond House. Situated on the Mill Pond of Centerport, this cozy colonial built almost 100 years ago has a great history.

- Lectures: The GCHA held the lecture, “Vaudevillians of Greenlawn and Centerport” to a 60-person audience!
- Exhibit: Exhibiting the “Vaudevillians of Greenlawn and Centerport” to align with our lecture and it will be up for the month of November at the Harborfields Library.
- Gardiner Barn Events: We started to host events in the Gardiner Barn. The fun and entertaining Charcutierie Workshop and the children’s event Spooky Trains!
- Gardiner Farm Stand: Open through the Pickle Festival, the farm stand is all you need offering a delightful array of fresh produce, delectable pies, mouthwatering jams and jellies, and an assortment of Kutztown Sarsaparilla Soda.
