 National Historic Marker Weekend 2026 takes place\nFriday\, April 24 throu
 gh Sunday\, April 26!\n'This free\, family-friendly volunteer event invite
 s neighbors\, friends\, and families nationwide to clean and care for hist
 orical markers in their communities. With this year’s theme\, “Your Hometo
 wn\,” it’s a fun way to learn local history\, give back\, and spend time w
 ith the people around you. What makes your hometown history unique?\nHisto
 rical markers can be found everywhere\, along roadsides\, in parks\, downt
 own streets\, and at historic sites. According to The Historical Marker Da
 tabase\, there are more than 227\,000 markers across the United States\, m
 any of which have not been cleaned or maintained in years. National Histor
 ic Marker Weekend helps communities come together to preserve these local 
 landmarks and make history shine again.'\n \nThe GCHA will be offering two
  walking routes! *Cleaning supplies will be provided and you can sign up f
